South City Kitchen, Atlanta, GA February 27, 2010

While visiting our son in Atlanta, he suggested South City Kitchen, 1144 Crescent Avenue (Midtown, in the NW) for our brunch on Saturday morning. We arrived about 11 AM when they opened and were seated promptly. Sunshine spilled onto our table area overlooking the quiet street. We all started with coffee, which was excellent and studied the menu which had a wide range of interesting selections. I had Maryland Style Crab cake which was served on top of grits (complete with corn pieces) and sauteed spinach, topped with Creole mustard hollondaise sauce. The flavor on the crab cakes was just right- not too spicy, and the grits were divine! My husband and son ordered Southern- style Eggs Benedict, which came over smoked beef brisket, with English muffins, pickled jalapenos and again, the Creole Mustard hollondaise. They started their meals with Mixed Baby Lettuces salads, which came with pecans and balsamic vinaigrette. The quality, service and atmosphere were absolutely top notch. I can't wait to return and try other specialties on their menu.

Overall rating 5 out of 5.
